How To Choose An Easy Chair
An easy chair is an upholstered comfortable chair, such as armchairs and recliners. When choosing an easy chair for your home there are a few things you should consider. First you must decide on the size and shape of the chair. This will be determined by the size of your room and the area size that you have designated for the chair. If you have a small room, then you have to be careful not to purchase a chair that will be too big, or that will look and feel cramped in the space. An easy chair is meant to be comfortable so you don’t want to feel restricted. However, if you have a large space for the chair to occupy, then you will have a wider option of chairs, which you can choose from.Style of the room is also something to take into account when choosing your easy chair. If your room has neutral colouring and has a fairly simple surrounding, then choose a chair with detailing such as buttoning and frills. Or if you are feeling more adventurous, make the chair the focus of your room by choosing a chair bright in colour or with a bold pattern. If you have a brightly coloured room or a room with lots going on, you have two options. You can either continue with the bold style by opting for a vibrant coloured chair, or you can choose a neutral colour such as white or beige.
When choosing the style of your chair, you should keep in mind the purpose of the chair. A vintage chair is perfect for curling up on in front of a fireplace or television; where as a classic mid-century piece (such as Eames Lounge Chair or Le Corbusier Chaise Longue) will add a timeless design statement to your room. However, you do not have to stick to these styles. You can mix the styles to create a unique style and statement. For example, a re-upholstered antique chair can look stunning in a contemporary minimalistic interior, providing a spectacular focus point for the room. Or for a personal touch, try re-upholstering an old chair in a fabric of your choice. This will give you a one-of-a-kind chair, and would make a great focal point for your room.
Another very important factor in deciding on your easy chair, which is often overlooked, is making sure that you feel comfortable. Treat the process of selection same as choosing a winter coat – try it on! Find the chair that you like in a shop and sit on it- you will know from how your body feels whether this one is for you.
For a final personal touch, accessorise the chair with cushions and throws. The accessories can be changed with seasons or according to your mood; it’s also a great way of revamping the style of the chair, making it feel almost new again!
Lastly, do take into consideration the maintenance of the chair. If you have young kids or pets in your household, go for a durable leather chair or ScotchGuard the fabric. This will help keep the chair in prime condition for as long as possible.
